HAMILTON DOMAIN BOARD.
The Council then sat as the Hamilton Domain Board, with the addition of Mr Missen, who was here present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Application kor Lease. — Messrs Wright and Devery applied for the lease of Lots No. 9 and 10, containing about seven acres each, at fire shillings per acre.—Mr Knox moved that the Board lease the land at 7s Gd per acre on condition that the Board can re-enter on three month's notice on giving compensation, and that the fences are put ap according to the original plans on the main road-side. It was a choice piece of ground.—Mr von Sturmer secondod the motion.—Mr Wood thought the land would be improved by occupation. He moved as an amendment, that the upset price be five shillings per acre.—Seconded by Mr Salmon.—Mr Knox thought if the land was put up in one lot, there might be competition, and the man who got it would have a nice property, as good as a freehold. The amendment was put and lost, and the original motion was carried. Sydney Square.—Mr Knox asked why the works on Sydney Square was stopped. The Chairman said the tree-planting had been suspended temporarily by the action of Mr Bell. Mr Knox protested against any private number interfering with works of the Board, without authority of the Board—Mr Bell explained.—Mr Knox moved that a committee consisting of Messrs Sandes, Jonea, Missen, and the mover be appointed to frame by-laws, for the guidance of the Board. Mr Sandes to be chairman. It was, he said, necessery to have some recognised rule of procedure.—Seconded by Mr von Stunner and carried. Accounts.—The following accounts were passed for payment; T. W. Maunder, 9a 2d ; C. McKenzie, 15s; W. Peacock, 17s Gd. The Board then lose.
