PAKURANGA HOUNDS
The first meet of the hunt was held opposite the Public Hall, Cambridge, yesterday, at 11 a.m., there being a full attendance of gentlemen and also a goodly number of tho fair sex, who were well mounted, and looked as if they could hold their own across a pretty stiff country. The master (Mr M E. Pickering), was assisted by the veteran huntsman, Tom Brown, who looked as fit as ever, aud has his dogs in good trim. Mr C. Hitcliman acted as whipper-in in an efficient manner. The proceedings commenced on Mr James Taylor's farm, where puss was soon found, and after a smart run was lost. Several other good runs were had, but only one resulted in a kill. The usual number of spills, but none of them resulted in heavy damages. Tho drag hull t en Saturday will beheld at Mr Jas, Taylor's farm instead of on the racecourse as formerly arranged. The country will be fresh to many of the old hands that know the old course by heart, and we learn that the jumps will be stiff.
