SKATING RINK.
The forniiil opening of Mr Pantißil's "Acme" skating rink, in tho Public Hall, Hamilton, last night, drew a very huge and fashionable attendance. There were visitors from several of the nei(j;hbourinc: districts. Several ladies and gentlemen took possession of the floor, from the practised skater to thu novice making his or her maiden efforts at the fascinating pastime, whilst the on-lookers admired the pracefnl movements and curvatures, of the former, and enjoyed the laboured progress and mishaps of the latter. The fair sex certainly displayed tho greatest skill, and two young ladies, one from Te A wamutu and the other from Alexandra, carried tho palm as the most finisher] skaters in the room. The Hamilton Volunteer Band, under Mr Mettmri, enlivened the proceedings with pleasant strains of music. Judging from the number present last night and the intorost manifested by them, we have no doubt Mr Panne]l will have a successful linking season.
