WAIKATO COUNTY COUNCIL.
The usual monthly meeting of the Waikato County Council was held in tho Council Chambers, Hamilton Mast, at 12.30 p.m. yesterday. There were present: Crs. Primrose (chairman), Smith, Johnson, .Steele and Barusdi.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed, and tho outward correspondence adopted.
Jeffries' Bitnii;u.—Messrs Bridge and Sutherland, the contractors for this work, applied for a month's extension of time, which was granted.
Legal Expenses.—The Clerk to the Cambridge Borough Council returned the account sent by the Waikato County clerk refusing to pay it, and referring the Council to tho award made by the ControllerGeneral.—Tllo Clerk was instructed to reply to the Cambridge Borough, explaining the prominent part played by Mr Gwynneth in this action in which these expenses were incurred. The Raglan County Council refused to pay their share of the expenses on the grounds that they were not in existence at tho time the expense was incurred.
SCHOOL OF Agiuixi/ITIIK. —Mr C. If, Osmond wrote., stating that ho had tin; Waikato Hotel and the adjoining building for sale, and would bo glad to dispose of them to tha Council on reasonable terms.
ToiALl-SAXOit.—A |>etition from the Christehurch Borough Council, praying for the abolition of the totalisator, was signed 011 behalf of the Council by the chairman.
Frsnis.—The Council at the present time is £334 os (id in credit, whilst the state of the riding accounts is as follows Tamaliere, £'J 14s 4j'd ; Cambridge, £100 3s o.ld ; and Rungiriri, £310 18s 103, in credit, whilst Kirikiriroa is £17 Jss fl\'d fn debt.
Encinkku's Ri-U'OKT.—The Engineer's report was read and adopted. Whanuamaiuno BiuiKiK. ~lt was resolved to call for tenders for this road, provided Mr Young allows him to do the clay work in conjunction with the swamp road, Mr Young to pay for the former work.
Dit.viN'S. —The application to put in a drain by the Taupiri Coal Mining Company was granted, oil condition that the Company agree to keep the road in good repair.—The engineer was instiucted to have the set of pipes moved from Muir's to near Tole's hill, as recommended in his report, the cost not to exceed ill'.
Paymicn'th.—The following accounts were passed for payment:—Johnson, £1 10i; Smith, 10s ; Fitzgerald, £-1 10s ; Lees, £'2 12s; Friar and Davis, £1 Ills ; Lans Hansen, £■1 10s ; Haekett, £1 'Is ; Kirk, £2 Ss lid ; Seliwood, £1 4s (id ; Birss, £3 ; Hodgson, £1. IBs ; Coombes, fillli ; Rangiriri Licensing, £1 10s : Ilalph, £1 10s 3d ; Sutherland and Bridge, £10.
