Thkuk is a strong probability that Mr McArthur will move in the third readingof the Customs Duties Bill an amendment t> the effect that the Government should take back choir estimates, and reduce them by something like £180,000, but the matter is not yet definitely settled, LOCAL ELECTION ACT AMENDMENT 11 ILL. The Bill introduced by Mr Hislop, Colonial Secretary, provides for'a substitute for returning officers, and that elections are not void by reason of public officers or polling places being outside of the district in which they are being held, that voters shall not be spoken to in the polling booths, under a penalty of and that the Returning Officer, and, if necessary, an interpreter may make up a voting paper for a voter who is blind, or cannot write.
