A 'four-roomed house, owned and occupied by v J. Jennings, collector, in south Dunedin, was burned down yesterday. The insurances are £200 in the Standard Ofiico. WELLINGTON,,Monday. Jalin Clarke, a carpenter, committed suicide this morning by hanging himself on his back fence. Clarke has been separated from his wife for some time, and was summoned to appear at Court this morning for disobeying an order of the .Court for maintenance. Deceased was 50 years of age, and an old resident. Among the passengers by the Aorangi is Mr Strickland, General Manager New Zealand' Shipping Company, afid Cant. Russell, M.H.K. - The Petone Railway Station was broken into on Saturday, and a safe containing about eighty pounds - removed. The burglars also broke into a blacksmith shop, and. obtained a sledge hammer,, etc., which was used in breaking open the safe.
