WAIORONGOMAI.

Another Robbery.—What looks very much like another robbery occurred here on Saturday night. A gentleman travelling in the interests of one of the insurance companies in Auckland lost the run of his pocket-book, containing £1) sterling, as we'll as some valuable papers. A reward of £5 is offered for its recovery. An incident in connection with the above occurred in Te Aroha yesterday. It appears the loser of the book and three others took the 'bus from here to Te Aroha, and on arriving there the three latter adjourned to No. 2 for a bath. While in the bath-house they were interviewed by the Sergeant of Police, in company with the loser of the pocketbook. The Sergeant expressed a wish to search them in, I understand, rather a rude manner, and on one of them demanding his warrant it seemed to non plus the officer, for he could not show it. I understand this person is taking advice about the matter, and will probably ascertain before the K. M. whether a policeman can at any time deliberately stick his hand into your pocket without authority for so doing. Death, —Mrs Whitehouse died at her residence, Te Aroha, yesterday morning at four o'clock. Much sympathy is felt for Mr Whitehouse in his bereavement. Ho is left with five young children, the youngest being only eight weeks old.
