[by telegraph—own correspondent.] Auckland, Wednesday. At the Police Co'jrt to-day William Noble, f»r playing the three card trick at Ellerslie was fined £50 or three months imprisonment. The magistrate said he had no power to make an order to restore the money found on the prisoner to prosecutor, who lost £9 at the game.

A communication from the Hon. W. Swanson, conveys the impression that the "Lords" will throw out the taxation provisions in the Codlin Moth Bill and the rest ot the measure will pass.

The funeral of Mr S. Browning was largely attended to-day. The Canadian female doctor is attracting a large amount of notice, and some marvellous cures are reported.
