Mir.l'Vu'i.KiNEU, the proprietor of a coach factory, and-a large employer of labour here, has given notice to reduce the wages of his employees by (id a day, in consequence of the pressure of the new tariff on articles used in the manufacture of carriages, He says his men must either do more work or take less wages, or he will be compelled to import the finished articles required iu the trade. Dunedin, Friday, The Committee of the Chamber of Commerce decidcd to take no action in making any recommendation re the tariff.
