A FARMER'S OPINION.
TO THE EDITOR. But, —King David the Great in his youth was a farmer. Possioly this was why in his wrath, he said all men are liars. Just so with ourselves in New Zealand who are interested in farming. • Nevertheless, all men must say that with wheat unsaleable at 2s lOd per bushel, milk at 2f,d per gallon delivered, and stock at less than cost of service, the settler in New Zealand is becoming very unsettled, and is being reduced to §uit or ruin. New Zealand is being reuced by. beknightcd legislators to a veritable pumpkin to outside view bluey green, in fact, sea-like. Boneath, a thin skin, however, a golden colour, represented by civic wealth and luxury belonging to our uncles, a very narrow ring. But internally void of heart, very pity, and woefully seedy, and upon our pumpkin alas ! is about to fall, Sir Harry's sledgehammor tariff which will change our pumpkin consistency into squash, and then our pumpkin will bs in tho same put, as was the historical Maori potato, historically cooked.—Yours, in a rage, O. Jerusalem.
