Domain Board.—The monthly meeting of the Hot Springs Domain Board was held on Saturday when there were present: Messrs Gavin (chairman), Ahier and Lipsey. The minutes of the previous monthly meeting were read and con firmed. A statement of accounts for the month showed the receipts from the b.iths for the four weeks ending June 2nd to bo £32 giving a credit balance > of_ about till after clearing off all liabilities to date. Correspondence wis read and dealt with as follows.—Letter from Mr W. Kelly, M.H.Iv. asking to be informed of the more pressing requirements of the Board and offering assistance to procure aid from Government. The Chairman and Mr Ahier were appointed a sub-committee to communicate with Mr Kelly and furnish him with the necessary information. Letter from Mrs Gallagher asking to be allowed to lay a 1 inch pipe from the domain to her dwelling to convey water for domestic purposes. Matter deferred until further enquiry is made. Letter from'Mr Geo. Wilson, tendering his resignation as member of the Board. The clerk was instructed t» write to Mr Wilson, expressing the regret if the Board, and thanking him fur his lon:.' and valuable services in connection with the domain. Plans, showing the proposed extension of the lawn as designed by the engineer, were submitted by the chairman, who was further empowered to have the work, as laid out, done by contra: t. A discussion took place with regard t • the propriety of closing the baths at (i p.m. on Sundays during the winter months, hut no action was taken. It was resolved that the hours during which the baths shall now, and until further notice, be open to the public will be from 7 a.m. till 10 p.m. The caretaker made complaint about persons making use of the baths and neglecting to pay. The passing of the wages and a few other accounts terminated the business.
StkcialClaims.—Mr Warden Northcroft arrived here on Saturday, and will make an examination to-day, accompanied by Mr Wilson, Mining Inspector, of several of the areas applied for as special claims. The applications for the 50 acre blocks visited to-day, will probably dealt with at the sitting of the Warden's Court co-morrow (Tuesday), and the decision which will then be given is looked forward to with considerable interest.
Tun Wkatheh.—The weather, which for the greater part of last week was beautifully'fine, has again broken, and since Sunday morning a good deal of rain has fallen. R.M. Coukt.—The fortnightly sitting of this Court was held on Tuesday, Mr 11. W. Northcroft presiding. There was only oue civil case, viz., Buckby v. Cooper, in which plaintiff claimed £11 15s for rent. _ Judgment was given for the amount, with 10s costs. Police v. Smardon : This was the same case heard at the last sitting of the Court, when defendant was charged with a breach of the Licensing Act in allowing Sunday trading on his licensed premises at Waiorongomai. On this occasion the charge was admitted, and a fine of £1 was inflicted, with costs .t'2 15s. Waiidex's Coukt.—Applications for licensed holdings wero hoard, and Hie following wero granted:—Excelsior, Tui Creek, D. J. Eraser ; Riversdale Xo. 2, Tui Creek, G. E. Ireland ; Nevada, Waiorongnmai, J. Frater. The applications of 11. McLiver and T. Gavin for the I Jay Dawn special claim at Waiorongomai, and of James Don for the Golden Crown special claim, Te Avoha, were also heard. The Warden stated he would recommend to the Minister of Mines that both claims be granted. The hearing of the application of 11. H. Adams for the Alameda claim at Waiorongomai township was further adjourned. E. Mercer made application for a residence site on the hill at Waiorongomai. Granted.
