A CORRECTION.
TO THE KDITOR. Sin,—ln your report of the meeting of the Hamilton' Road Board on Saturday last, it says the chairman suggested that beforo striking a rate for the year, an approximate estimate be made of cost of work absolutely necessary to be done in the year. Then your report says, Mr Atkinson was not in favour of the suggestion. Now the truth is I offered to second the suggestion if the chairman would allow the report to come before the Board at their next ordinary meeting instead of having a special meeting that day fortnight as proposed by the chairman. What I did object to was the proposal to give notice for the striking of a rate beforo the next ordinary meeting. You report Mr Livingstone's proposition that the rate be gd in the £, but you leave out Mr Way's amendment, that the rate be j|d in the i'. If you will kindly grant space in an early issue of your valuable papor for this letter, you will obligo.— Yours truly,
John Atkinson, Spring Bank Farm, June lith, 18.S8.
