KIHIKIHI.
The Late Mil Donovan.—Mr Donovan's many friends heard of his death last week with feelings of deep regret. For several years he was mail contractor, carrying H.M. mails between Te Awamutn railway station ami Te Awamutn and Kihikihi and known and liked by all for his kindly and obliging disposition. With the travelling public he was a favourite, especially so with ladies, for he was always civil and attentive, qualities which ladies admire, and when there was a choice of coaches " Dan's" was always chosen, for besides being civil and polite to all he was a safe and steady driver. He possessed another quality which contributed materially to hia popularity; that was generosity, for he never passed either man, woman or child on the road without pulling up and offering a "lift." It made no difference, to his kindly nature whether the person had money or not, and many a man tramping the country in search of work was indebted to "Dan"for a " lift" over muddy and slippery roads. He died after a brief illness at the house of his sister Mrs Corboy, where he was tenderly nursed by his mother and sisters, passing peacefully away at the early age of 37. He was followed to his last resting placo at Rangiaohia by a large concourse of friends who came from many miles round to pay a last tribute of respect to one who was universally esteemed. The service of the Roman Catholic Church was impressively road by the Rev. Father Luck. Much sympathy is felt and expressed for his mother and sisters in their bereavement.
