Tin-: Wellington Chamber of Commtrce lias passed the followinor resolution " That it is not advisable to discuss the details of the tariff until the House has determined whether it i-< possible to do without extra taxation. While not admitting the necessity of additional taxation, the Chamber is of opinion that the taiilf should not be amended in the direction proposed, as it raised so many complicated issues. The Chamber believe* that a savins can be effected in the cost of education and better management of railways, which will render further taxation unnecessary. That the proposed one per cent. primage duty is a most vexatious impost, and will Rive needless trouble, out of all proportion to the money to be raised." Chuistohukch, Monday. The Protection Association havo passed a resolution approving of the Government proposals.
