Pi(oi'o:;ui> Ivivnii Board.—A mooting way hold liem on Thursday fur the delegates appointed by the i'iako and Ohinemuri County Councils and the Te Aroha Town |j(iard ; to consider certain suggestions mado by the Hon. Minister of Marine, relative to the forming of a River Board, representing the several districts affected by the proclamation of August hist which gave extended jurisdiction to the Thames Harbour Board. After a lengthened discussion the delegates arrived at the conclusion that the difficulties interposed by Section G of the liiver Board Act, 188-1, ware such as would prevent the constituting of such a, Board as that proposed. The meeting, however, was unanimous as to the necessity for a continuance of the efforts to guard the interests of the settlers in the up-river districts, and it was decided to again com. inunicate with Government. There was only one opinion regarding the need for having the unjust proclamation rescinded without delay. With that object accomplished, and the present existence of the Ohinemuri Comity as a properly-con-stituted River District maintained, it was believed that the object of the meeting would bo fully secured. The Thames County Council was not represented, but a telegram was received from the chairman of that body to the effect that it was undesirable and inexpedient to create another governing body in a district already over-governed, and that if a ltiver Board were formed its jurisdiction should be restricted to the County County boundary. Letters embodying the result of the deliberations of the delegates will be forwarded to the Hon. Minister of Marine and the members fur the respective districts.
