EDUCATION BOARDS TO BE ABOLISHED.

(UY TELKGBAI'H.— PIiKSS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, Wednesday. It is stated that the question of the abolition of Education Boards has engaged the attention of tho Minister for Education, who is convinced that in the interests of the system it is desirable that the Boards should be done away with, and that the Education Department should take over the entire functions of administration and inspection. It is considered that thus the disadvantage of the permanent residence of inspectors in one particular district would bo removed, and the whole system of inspection be placed on a more satisfactory footing. There is not, however, _ much likelihood tli.it legislative effect will be given to the idea this session.
