LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PKESS ASSOCIATION'. 1 FRIDAY. TnE Council met at 2.30. ADnHESS-liV-RKPLY. The Address-in-Reply was presented by the Speaker to liis Excellency. LOAN' BILL. The Loan Bill was received and read a tirst time. Hon. Sir F. Whitaker moved its second reading. Hon. Mr Waterhnuse objected, and moved an amendment that the motion be not carried until full information as to details be given. Hon. Sir I'\ Whitaker strongly urged the passing of the Bill, saying that the colonial finances would ba in a fearful confusion unless money was obtained. The Council divided ; ayes, 14 ; noes, 12; and the amendment was lost. The, second reading was agreed to, and the Bill passed through nil its stages. Tlio Council rose at 5 o'clock till Tuesday next.
