Annual Meeting of Ratepayers.
A meeting of ratepayers was held on Monday last. The Chairman read the advertisement calling the meeting, and requested the Secretary to read the report of the receipts and expenditure for the year ending 31st March, ISSS, which showed :—Keceipta, £632 Is 4d. Expenditure : By sundry expenses, office and printing, £3 7s 4d ; commission on rates, £20 ; advertising,£ll 19s Gd ; contractoi deposits, £11 ; material district roati* (country), £33 13s lid ; do. do. (town), £5 7s; forming and repairing county roads, £156 os4d ; do. do. town, £62 lis tid. Total, £2S-i 9s 7d. Fixed deposit, £300. Balance in Bank on 31st March, ISSS, £27 lla ftd. Total. £68.2 Is 4J. Assets, £682 ISs lid • liabilities, £127 153 9d ; public debt, nil. Before moving the adoption of the report, the chairman said that the ratepayers would Bee that after paying ofF all liabilities to date, there was still a balance of about £500 to their credit, and also the trustees had been able to carry on the various works in tho district, without the necessity of making a rate during the past year, 1887-ISSS. Also the various roads in the district under their control were in goad repair at the present time, thereforo he bad much pleasure in moving the adoption of the report.—Seconded and carried.
