SERIOUS FIRE AT HOKITIKA.

Hokitika, Monday. A J.AHGE fire occurred .it half-past one this morning. The Post-oflice Hotel, Red Lion Hotel, the large two story buildings of thi Hardware Company's simp, Malfroy and Craig's timber yard, and a portion of the shop with all outbuilding were destroyed. Tho fire originated upstairs on the Postoffice Hotel, and the flames spread with terrible rapidity, the inmates escaping in their night clothes. Mrs Brown jumped from an upstairs window with an infant in her arms, and sprained her ankle and fracturing the small bones besides sustaining other injuries. The large produce store occupied by Henderson, and the concert hall attached to the Post-office Hotel were destroyed. The Post-ollice on the opposite side of the street was scorched and furniture injured by water. The total loss is estimated at £0000.
