THE FEMALE CATTLE-STEALER.

(by telegraph.—press association). iNVEUCAEGIiiL, Wednesday. The Court was crowded to-day when the young woman Sophia Kidd was brought up on remand, charged with stealing 1G head of cattle. The case for the prosecution has already been given. For the defence a number of witnesses were called, who swore positively that the accused was driving a reaper on her mother's farm at Forest Hill on the 10th, and could not possibly have been at Matanra. His Worship said a strong prima facie case had been made out, and accused was committed for trial. Bail in two sureties of £100 each was allowed.
