FIRE AT HAMILTON EAST.
A foub-roomko cottage, belonging to Mr M. Head, Hamilton East, was destroyed by fire between one and two o'clock yester day morning. Mr Head was away from home at the time, and the other members retired early, leaving a fire burning in the grate. Young Head, a lad of about nine years, was tho first to discover tho fire, being awakened by the crackling of the timber. The house was an old one, and was speedily consumed, the occupants barely having time to escape in their night clothes. Nothing whatever was saved. Tho house and furniture were insured in the London and Lancashire office.
