• These races promise to bo a great success today, the following horses being present to take pntt :—Orangeman, Holly, St. Michael, Mantilla, Argyln, Sir Walter, Larrikin, Marksman, Yankee, Wideawake, Squire, Painell, Joe, Memorandum, K-irncst, Kismet, Snake, Pretender, Leila, Haricot, Sigueas, Deceiver, To Namu, Wilfred, Loo, Diana, Glencoe Maungatautiiri, Maori, Topsy, Tomboy, Kaiajioi and Forgot-ine-not, 33 in all. Good racing is certain to result, and the course is in firstrate order. The following is onr sporting contributor's tips :—For the M.udkn Plate, if Orangemen starts Jia should win, Memorandum being about the next best. The Hlt.ulk Rack is tho most open event of the meeting, and the pick seems to be Orangeman, Larrikin and Don in the order named. For the Novel Hack, Yankee should make it warm, the next beit being Muungatautari and Loo. In the Autumn Hanijicap, with Tamora away, there should be a errand race between Snake and Sir 'Walter, and Earnest as runner up. The running in the Skd.ixg Huum.us will depend freatly on the result of the Huiim.H Haxdicaj , , so I will not attempt to solve this problem. Diana should win the Novkl Hack, with Loo and Yankee for pla.es. Tho Olaui)ejan!>s Platb should fall to Squire, the top weight, with Haricot or' Holly next, but I should not be a bit surprised to see the latter win if he gets well away. Bueast Plate.
