RAILWAY LINE VETOED BY GOVERNOR.
|By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.! Perth (W. A.), April 23. The Legislative Council was prorogued on Friday. The Governor absolutely refused to sanction the construction of the line of railway from Banbury to Darlington ranges, although the proposed line was unanimously agreed to by the Legislative Council. Tin Governor's message gives his reason fcr refusing to sanction the construction of the line, and refers to the gloomy state of affairs iti the colony, and regards the present time inopportune for carrying out such a work in view of the financial position of the colouy. A public meeting was held here to-day to discuss the attitude assumed by Sir Napier Broom, as it was thought the. Governor is doing his utmost to thwart the wishes of the colonies out of spite for their action against him in reference to his interdiction of Chief Justice Onslow.
