LOSS OF A HUSBAND.
[by telegraph.—press association.] Invercabgill, Thursday. At the Supreme Court to-day a case in which considerable interest was taken was concluded. Mrs Newall widow of one of the men killed in the collapse of the Kenham Tunnel some time ago, sued Mr Monzies, the contractor, for £2OCO, as solatium for the death of her husband. The special jury returned a verdict for £150, on the rround that the defendant had not used sufficient diligence in ascertaining whether the man he had appointed in charge of the works was an expert.
