LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS.
[by telegraph—own correspondent.] Auckland, Wednesday. On Saturday next Sir George Grey will be 70 years old. In all probability congratulations will be sent to him from all the public bodies. An enterprising Waikato farmer, Mr Hill, of Hamilton, has taken over by the Waihora, which left yesterday for Sydney, a trial shipment of 2i) horses, for sale in New South Wales. These horses have all been bought in Waikato, and the shipment comprises different classes of animals. Mr Hill's intention being to test the market in Sydney, and ascertain the stamp of horsis, most in demand over there. To obtain fair profit upon his venture, Hill will have to sell his horses at an average price, £20 each, and as they are all picked aniiria/.s of their several classes, young and sound, there are good grounds for hoping thatthe speculation will prove a fairly successful one. The cost of conveying horses to Sydney is £5 a head.
