RAGLAN COUNTY COUNCIL.

+ At the late meeting of the Raglan County Council, the secretary was instructed to write to several defaulting ratepayers ; demanding payment of the several amounts due for rates, and at the same time pointing out, the loss sustained by ; the council, through payment not having been made by 31st. nit. It was arranged that tenders should be called for from persons willing to act as dog registrars in the different ridings at per collar. The Chairman also drew the Council's attention to the necessity of securing section 38, parish of Waipa, for the working of the punt at Ngaruawahia, and that the Waipa County Council should bo communicated with, asking their co-operation in maintaining in efficiency the said punt, It was also decided to communicate with the Whaingaroa Road Board with a view to obtaining the suspension bridge at present over the Waitetuna river for the purpose of erecting same over the Whaingaroa River at Keri Keri. In the matter of Government grants for road-making, it was resolved that letters be written to the Colonial Treasurer and Major Jackson re the sum of £250, Raglan-Waipa road, and £200 HarapipiKaniwhaniwlia road, drawing attention to the fact that no answer had been received to letters sent on the Uth February last. The chairman was appointed a delegate to attend the preliminary mooting of the proposed Agricultural Board, and to report particulars of the same to the Council before any definite arrangement is entered npen. The Secretary was instructed to write a letter of condolence to tho widow of the late Cr. Barker, expressing regret for the very great loss the O'onnqil has sustained in his sudden demise. It was resolved that tenders be solicited for erecting a stone culvert over the Waimarino Creek, and also from nersons qualified to perforin the duties of engineer to the Council at percent.
