ALEXANDRA.
Migration ok the Kin-cites.-— A considerable amount of gunpowder was expended at Whatiwhatihoe on Sunday, the occasion being the arrival there of the bones of the late King Potatau I, father of 'Tawhiao. The bones were disinterred somewhere at Maungatautari, whore they were taken by Rewi from Ngaruawahia when General Cameron with the British troops advanced on that settlement. The bones, covered with native mats, were carried by old Te Wharepn on his back, who, accompanied by some 30 natives, have for the present deposited them in the mausoleum first built for the remains of the late Tu Tawhiao. The party were received in state (native style) with the usual tangi and a continual discharge of guns. Old Whaicpu is now very much tiipu (too sacred) to be touched, and is fed like a child. The party next proceed to Te Kuiti to lift the bones of Te Paia (Sophia), the eldest sister of 'J.'awhiao's, and from thence to Hikurangi for the re mains of Takerei Te Keru. When all are collected here a migration from Wliatiwhatihoe will take place to a settlement in Lower Waikato, and the glory of Alexandra will have departed. The Hpraicia-Maraehoa Grievance. —The Ngaimaoiopoto chiefs Taonui and Hitere Te Paerata went to Auckland last week to interview the Native Minister and their lawyers, in connection with a re-hearing of the Hurakia block at Taupo. This matter is a very sore one with them and everyone who lias studied the matter is of one opinion that an injustice has been committed, it is to be hoped that a re-bearing will be granted them. The Theatre Royal.—ln consequence of several of the members of the Theatre Royal Company having been unable to atteud the rehearsal, (for which the late unsettled weather is responsible) the Pirates of Penzance will not be produced here for some time yet, as announced.
