Hamilton v. Camiiridge. The third match between the Cambridge and Hamilton C.U. was played at Tamahcre, and was won by Cambridge by five runs on the first innings, time not allowing the match to be played out, otherwise the result would have been reversed, as Cambridge had lost seven wickets for 10 runs with 52 runs to win. The Hamilton's first innings wa3 a collapse, the iast live wickets making only two runs—Case with his slow lobs making the batsmen look foolish.—Browning 14 was the only double figure. Cambridge responded with 42 runs, Stevens taking six wickets and Gaudin four. Browning snapped up Case smartly at the wickets. Hamilton's second innings, 70, was a little better. Stevens stuck in some time and made 20, and Browning made 18 in a very short time. Wilson, of Cambridge, bowled right well, taking eight wickets. Cambridge then went in, but made a very poor show, Gaudin and Ewen knocking down the stumps in fine style. The redoubtable Case was bowled by Ewen, a regular trimmer. Several of the Hamilton men left after their second innings, causing a delay of about halfan-hour, which virtually lost their side the mrtch. Cambridge was good enough to lend fielders. M. Stubbing made a grand catch in the long field, causing his skipper to retire. HAMILTON'. Browning, b Wilson... 14 b Wilson ... IS Sandes, b Stubbing ... li b Wilson ...
