LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS.
[by telegraph.—own coiutusroNnENt], Auckland, Monday. H.M.S. Swinguu has arrived. The Russian man-o'-war Rynda leaves to-morrow for Fiji. At the District Court to-day, in the case Laishley v. Care, claim of £53 for money paid on defendant's behalf, judgment was given for plaintiff with costs. Mr Cotter for defendant, gave notice of appeal. The late J. B. Morpctli will be accorded a military funeral to-morrow. At about 9 o'clock this morning a fire broke out, and burned down w fourroomed cott;)ge belonging to John Macguire, at the corner of Selwyn-streot and Mount Park Road, Onehunga. The fire appears to have been an accident, and caused by a defective oven. Mr Macguire was in Auckland, and Mrs Macguire was outside in the yard when the tire caught. The house was insured in the British for £50. Inspector Broham arrived from the South this morning by the Te Anau, to assume charge of the Auckland police district.
