Waikato Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting. Stewards : Messrs C. Gordon-Glassford, S. Lawson, Capt. Daly, G. W. Russell. C. Tuck, C. H. White, E. Cusser, and A. Bach. Judge: Mr H. Gordon-Glassford. Staktkii : Mr C. J. Storey. Clkhk of Course: Mr E. Pilling. Clkkk of Scales : Mr C. Tuck. Hon. Skc. : Mr Arthur Bach. The above races, which took place in Mr Allwill's paddock, Cambridge, on St. Patrick's Day, were fairly represented by the sporting fraternity, and had it not been for the heavy downpour of rain which took place early in the morning the attendance would have been much larger ; as it was all who were present thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and the meeting was a decided success. The morning opened with wet, but towards midday the sun broke through, and during the whole time the races were being run, the weather proved delightfully fine. M.r H. G. Glassford who was to have acted as jufh'e was unfortunately prevented fiom bftin"'present; and Mr R. Kirkwood kindly acted in his stead. The officers are to be congratulated upon the success of the meeting Mr White, who had the refreshment booth, catered for the wants of the inner mr.n, and was largely patronised The racing was uncommonly good. The Hurdles resulted in a surprise, Don and Joe both running off the course, which allowed Mr C. Weal.* Kotiro to win, much to the disappointment of the general public. Memorandum who was the favourite for the Waikato Jockey Club Handicap, made most of the running, otherwise it was the opinion of many that Earnest would not have won, the gelding being made too much in the early part of the race. The Selling* Hack Race resulted in a win for Kismet, Perieri being a close second. The Selling Steeplechase was an easy win for Fisherman. Whilst the Redwood Stakes was appropriated by Earnest, who was quite at home at the distance. The Novel Race was simply a gift to Mr Halcrow's Leila. Mr J. D. Arnaboldi kindly granted the free use of his totalisator, whicli added to the success of the meeting. The amount put through was £272; and the clubs benefits to the extent of £28 by it.
