No-balls.
TO TIIK EDITOR, Sir,— Will you kindly answer the following to decide; a. dispute : —Can the umpire give "no ball " after the ball has been delivered by the bowler and the wicket taken. We are pretty well of opinion that an umpire's decision is final, but the query is whether it is .so in this ease. By answering the above you will oblige, Ti.mi Kkukama. Cambridge, 12th March, ISSS. LAn umpire's decision, if " final " at all, is final in every case. Although rule I!) lays it down that the umpire shall take especial can , , to call "no ball" instantly upon delivery, yet because he delays to do so does liot alter the fact of its being a "no bull," and therefore cannot take a wicket.—l'M.
