[BY TKLKGRAPH. -OWN COKKKSPONrtKNT.] The Supreme Court. Auckland, Monday. The Supreme Court opened to-day. Judf*e (Jillies in addressing the grand jury said he thought there was no very serious offence, yet a large number of serious charges. William Doyle, chained with horse stealing at Kihikilii, was sentenced to two year's hard labour ; Johanna O'Connor, for arson, four years; Arthur Welham, larceny as bailee of a gun, found guilty. Sentence deferred pending inquiries by probation officer. The Late Fire. c> No clue has been found to the incendiary who set fire to the premises in (Jueen-street on Sunday morning. The Rainfall. Between Thursday and Saturday the rainfall reßistered was throe inches. The City East Licensing Petition. Judgment was Riven in the City East licensing petition case to-day, Mr Smith upheld the validity of the election of the Moderates, but ruled that J. K. Harper and C. Heskuth were insolvent. The Temperance party will now resist the return of Moderates in other wards.
