The Philadelphia Press predicts that half a century hence the United States, China and Australia will divide the Pacific The annexation of Cuba to the United States is again mooted. Many years ago the Status offered Spain the magnificent sum of 1,000,000 dol. for the islairl, and later thcofl'er was increased to 30,000,000 dol., but has been withdrawn. As Spain receives fully this amount annually from -the island, the otter is not likely to prove a very tempting one. Tho population of Cuba is now about 1,300.000, tho black dement numbering 400,000.
