At the turn into, the straight the first time E.D. took a sligYt lead. Nelson at this time also improved his position, and was in close attendance on the leader.--. Turning into the straight Carlyon maintained the lead, but at the distance post Arsenal shot out from the second division and challenged the favourite, but could never quite get on even terms, and the Hon. White's horse won by half a length, Arsenal beating Dick Swivellftr by a neck for second place. Enfilade was fourth, then came Abuse, E.D., Nelson, Ben Bolt, Australian Peer, Moorehouse and Malua. Melbourne, Wednesday. There was no betting last night, in consequenco of the uncertainty as to whether Carlyon and Abercorn will start for the Champion Stakes, and the market is paralysied. _^^____^____
