A meeting of the Piako County Council will be held at Mr Pavitt's office, Te Aroha, at 4 p.m. on.' Thursday, the 15th ■ list. We are glad to see that Mr Macgregnr [Hay is so far recovered from his severe illnosu that he is able to get about again. A large body of dervishes attacked Snakiin on the 3rd in.it., but were repulsed with the loss of 100. Colonel Tapp and fivo men were killed, and fourteen wounded of the British. In another column an advertisement appears for a librarian for the Cambridge Public Library. Tho salary is .£35, and applications must be sent in by 4 p.m. on Tuesday next. The secretary of thu Cambridge Tennis Club has not yet received a decisive answer from tho Thames Indies to _ say if they will bo able to Cuitio In Cambridge at Easter to play a match. Mr Bull, the Cambridge postmaster, will be relieved to-day, in order thiil he may liike hin itiimi.-il holiday of a fortnight. Mr Bull intends visiting Te Aroha, and probably Itoforua. MrW. T. Another tournament will shortly lie played among the members of the Hamilton Liwn Tennis Club for a racket, presented to the club by Mr W. N. von Stunner. The tournament will be a handicap, and the entries close at an early dat.\ We find our informant was in error in furnishing us with the local which appeared in our last issue with reference to the large and suecesful horse salo at Cambridge on Saturday list which should been credited to Messrs Hunter and Co., and not to Messrs Buckland and Co. There are some very dangerous spots on the Raglan road, this side of tho range, where it is very narrow, with a sheer precipice on the one side. Mr Westney had a very narrow escape from a serious accident, last week, when driving past with a buggy and pair. The County Council should have such places fenced off as soon as possible. A cricket match will be played on Saturday next between the Paterangi and Hamilton clubs. The Hamilton team will be chosen from the following :— Messrs Barton, von Stunner, B iwnian, Browning, Stevens, Gaudin, Bindon, Cowper, Sage, Connolly, Ewen, Keep, Forbes and Radford, Players are requested to le on the ground at 11 o'clock. As Mr Coop, of Hamilton, was proceeding to Raglan with his family on Tuesday, the buggy ho was driving upset on the road in some way. All the occupants of the vehicle escaped without injury, except Miss Coop, who received several cuts about her face, but not of a serious nature. The buggy was put right again and the family continued their journey.

Messrs A- Buckland and Co's horse sale at Mr E. L. Smith's Yards, Hamilton East, yesterday, was a decided success, both from the number of entries (which exceeded 70) and from the number of buyers, who attended from all parts of the district. A large number of horses changed hands, and useful light harness and hacks of a good stamp mot with good competition. The sales of stock in Hamilton will no doubt gradually grow in favour, and be patronised by the settlers from Waipa and lower parte of the district, to whom it is more accessible than Ohaupo or Cambridge.
