KIHIKIHI.
Taisleaux PEIiFOU.MANCE.—The theatre Royal Company Rave one of their excellent performances here on Friday evening before a very large audience in aid uf the fund* of the Anglican Church. This company has taken an infinite amount of trouble to practice their parts, and this periormance was as usual, highly appreciated. Their fame has spread abroad throughout the land, for they have-received a pressing invitation to join in the performance of the " Pirates of Penzance" at Alexandra, which. I believe, has been accepted, and preparations are being made to put the piece on the stage. The accoustic properties of the kihikihi Hall are excellent, the music and smgmg being iieard to great advantage. Some of the tableaux were very effective, especially the battle scene from " Ehrerr on the Rhine,' which was loudly applauded. Mr Clark, a gentleman from Tauranga, who has very fine voice, sang a comic song, entitled " Oh, Sophia," in a manner that set the audience in roars, and Mr Gresham's song, "Shan van Voght," brought dowir the house. Considering the time and trouble involved m the preparation of these tableaux, the performers thoroughly deserve the thorough appreciation with which their performance was received. The following is the programme :—Piano duet, the Misses Archer; song, "Anchored," Mr Kieg; Tableaux, "The Blind Girls Dream "(the vocal portion by Mrs Grosham); address to the " Brethren and sistern on leap year, Mr King; duet, "The Cousins," Misses Allen and Finch (encored); song, "Mermaid,-' Mr Gresham (encored); s<»:, Miss Finch; Tableaux, "Tit for Tat" (the vocal portio:: by Miss Allen.) Interval. Piano so'i, Mr Grierson; Tableaux, "Ehren-.n lie Rhine" (the vocal portion by Miss Finch); song, " Mrs Gresham; comic song, " Oh, Sophia," MrClark (encored); Tableaux, "Old Robin Grey "(the vocal portion by Miss Allen), (encored); song, "Shan van Voght,' Mr Gresham (encored); Tableaux, "Three Maids of Lee." At the close of the performance Mr Hutchinson thanked the "Theatre Royal Company " for their assistance in augmenting the funds of the Church. The handsome sum of £11 was netted, which in these dull times is exceptionally good, and is an evidence uf the high merit of the performance.
