Tub M.ur.y.—There is now a likelihood of the daily mail services between here and Auckland and intermediate towns on the lino of railway being shortly re-established. Seeing the futility of again petitioning Government to grant the whole of tho sum required by Mr E. Gallagher, coach proprietor, for the conveyance of the mails between Te Aioh.i .and Morrinsville on the offtrain days, a number of the inhabitants realising the importance to the district, of having more frequent postal communication, have determined to subscribe among themselves the additional amount required to make up the subsidy asked for by Mr (rallagher. It may be expected therefore tliat the daily service will again quickly be restored, This action on the part of the resident? should afford to the Government convincing proof that in petitioning for daily mail communication they asked for no more than they believed to be necessary for the welfare of the district.
