Now that the licensing elections lire over the Moderate party patiently nwiiit the decimation of tho poll and then take legal steps to upsot it in the K.M. Court. Whether they will be successful or otherwise will be determined by the course of events, and there is every prospect of both parties enjoying a stubborn legal battlw. Mr Cotter was interviewed by a B;ll reporter to-day. Ho said he could do nothing until the official declaration had been made. "There is no question nhnnt. it," he replied, in answer to a question ~s •.,<> the illegality of the proceedings ; " it is as clear as it could be that the election is as bad as bad can be ; and whether the Governor will validate it is an open question. Ha may not interfere." "Is it likely that the Government will say a tiling must be done, and then upset the provisions of their own Act V" " The intention of the Act is to validate omissions by the returning officer, and not such irregularities as those in question."
