S. PETER'S PARISH PICNIC.

Tiik annual picnic of tlio parishioners and Sunday-school children of 8. Peter's parish, Hamilton, was held at the grounds of Lake House on Tuesday last, kindly thrown open for the occasion by Col. Forbes. The situation is a very beautiful one, being on the grassy slope that borders the Lake, with the full expanse of the fine sheet of water in the fore-ground. The weather was very fine, though hot in the sun, but there was ample shade under the plantation of trees on the ground, whore every preparation had been made for the comfort and amusement of old and young. Beneath an awning was a long table for the use of the committee dispensing the abundance of good things that had been provided, and where also two large copper boilers were in requisition to brew the tea and boil the hot water. Tents were also erected, as well as swings, shooting gallery, merry-go-round, and a number of boats for excursions on the water. It was estimated that over five hundred of all ages were on the ground, who seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves in every respect, and the most cordial good feeling and sociability prevailed amongst all present. Great praise is due to the Committee and those who assisted them for the excellence of the arrangements and the perfect success with which the whole all'air passed off, to the satisfaction of all who attended. At about six o'clock the gathering dispersed, busses and vehicles of all kinds being busily employed in taking the visitors back to the township and their homos.
