SERIOUS GUNPOWDER ACCIDENT.
Ox Wednesday hist a man named Samuel Hunter, employed on tho Waiteti section of tho Main Trunk Railway, was engaged at blasting, and whilst charging a bote hole with powder and fuse, the combustible ignited, causing a heavy explosion. Hunter received very severe injuries to his face, neck, chest and arms, the skin being completely stripped off his hands and other parts. The unfortunate fellow was conveyed as speedily as possible to Te Kuiti, and lodged at Tanner's accomodation house, where the best attention was bestowed on him until Saturday, when he was brought down by train to Hamilton, and taken to the Waikato District Hospital, where his groat injuries wei e speedily attended to by Dr Kenny, and his sufferings reduced. So extensive are the hurts he has sustained, that it occupied Dr Kenny for seven hours dressing the wounds. We arc glad to say that Hunter is doing as well aa his severe condition renders possible.
