OHINEMURI.
Local Racks.-—The Ooinemuri Jockey Club liavo decided to hold their usual annual race meeting oil St. Patrick's thy. A com in it tee meeting is called for Saturday night. The prizes this year will hardly lie so lorse as last year, when £105 was given in added money. A first class nieetinsr will, however, lie held. A little new blood is now infused into the club, and matters are likely to be carried on in some other way than heretofore. County Council. — The Ohinemuri County Council held its usual monthly meeting oil Saturday last. A number of applications for aid to prospecting were read and the Government regulations for aid to prospecting were duly adopted. Correspondence was read from tho Thames County Council desiring the Ohinemuri Council to make some definite proposal for the liquidation of the balance of the Audi-tor-Generals award of £2000. The Undersecretary, Mines department wrote saying that the following subsidies were cancelled : —Karaugahake-Te Aroha, fiolil! (is; Tui Creek sledge track, £213 (is Sd ; l'araknwai Track, £200; < Iwharoa low level tunnel, £199 14s Sd. The Inspector of Nuisances requested the Council to pass a bye-law abolishing pit closets, and compelling icsidents in the township to use box closets, also recommending bye-laws to be made referring to the pollution of tho rivers. This was left in the hands of a sub-committee. The matter of the proposed loan of £1300, under the Local Bodies Loan Act, ISSO, was then brought up. Tho following is the allocation of tho loan Roads: PaeroaOwharon, £250; Owharoa-Waih', £175; Paeroa-Te Aroha, £200: Paeroa-Hikutaia, £220; Mackaytoivn-Karangahake, £100; Upper Waitoa, £45 ; Lower Waitoa, £45 ; Interest (first year), £G5 ; election of County Officer, £200. Total, £1300. Licensing Committer—.Nominations for the Licensing Committee will be taken this week,—There will be a keen contest between tho two parties if rumour speaks correctly. ]f is gradually getting to be a personal light 1.-«twuon paiiiz-tns of each side, and this is making it a hard matter to get a good selection of candidates.
