THE S.S. ORETI.
[by TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Monday. This afternoon a further number of the crew of the steamer Ureti made an application for the seizure of the vessel for wages due. The application was granted. Mr Gibbes, the agent for Mr J. B. Day, of Auckland, owner of the vessel, arrived from the North yesterday, and placed the matter in the hands of Mr Travers, to act ou his own behalf. It appears that Mr Day purchased his interest in the vessel only a short time since, and in making the purchase he understood that all wages and fees due were to be paid off by her former owners. The old company, however, repudiate any liability, and aver that Mr Day took over all debts when he purchased the vessel. On execution of the warrant granted this afternoon the vessel will be absolutely in the hands of the officers and crew, and unless speedy settlement is affected she will be sold for payment of claims advanced.
