FATAL ACCIDENT AT HUNTLY

Inspector Kiely received a telegram from Mr Collins, mine manager at Taupiri, that a man named James Russell was killed in the Huntly mine yesterday. Mr Russell was a settler of long-standing, and had a small farm to the northward of Huntly, where he and his family resided. He has been for a considerable period winking in theTaupiri Company's mine, he being a coal miner of many years experience, both in the old country and in New Zealand. He was between 50 and (10 years of age, and was much respected by his neighbours and those who worked with him. An inquest will be held at noon to-day, by Mr Searancke.
