ATTEMPT TO COMMIT SUICIDE IN A RAILWAY CARRIAGE.
A YonNfi gentleman named Strickland, who had been staying at the Bedford Hotel, Brighton, made a determined attempt, to commit suicide by shooting himself, whilst travelling in n first-class carriage between London and Brighton. On the arrival of the train at Brighton he was found with a revolver in his hand and bleeding from the temple. Two chambers of the seven had been fired, and when questioned he said he thought he had fired three shots, adding that he was surprised they made things which were of no use. A medical gentleman was of opinion that Mr Strickland was not dangerously injured. The young man has assigned no reason for the act.
