WHATAWHATA.

School Feast.—Friday January Oth, the day chosen fur the .school feast proved to be one of the very rainy days wo so often experience in the colony ; so the treat was postponed until Monday January Oth, which was also unfavourable. However, at 4.30 p.ui. au excellent tea was apparently thoroughly enjoyed by about forty children, and afterwards by Lhe grown-up people, and the arrangements were admirably carried out by the committee. The school room was tastefully decorated with flowers, ferns and suitable mottos, for the occasion. At S p.m. a dance commenced which was kept up with great vigour until morning. Thanks are due to Mr Crawford for the good things provided, and to all those who in any way contributed to the enjoyment; of the children.
