ANNIVERSARY SWIMMING RACES.
A sub-com.mittbr: inspected the L ike yesterday, with the view of selecting a course for the various events. It was found that ten feet of water can be Rot within fifteen or twenty yards of tho bank, and hero the diving, headers, and straita for the various events can take place, whilst a natural grand stand exists in the shape of a bluff some thirty feet high, capable of accomodatin« soveral hundred persons. The races from 40 to 200 yards can take place, parallel tn the shore, so that competitors'are in full view the wholo time, and the h mile will finish at the starting point. The committee will have six open boats at least, and four canoes «n the Lake, and six tents for dressing purposes will be provided, not a snae exists in the vicinity, and a better or prettier spot for the affair could not have been chosen. A largo raft will be built for starting from, and a small ietty for the boats to land at, and takeoff competitors. Thu cornmitcee meet to-night to make final arrangements.
