TE AROHA

Domain Board.—The first meeting of the newly-appointed Hot Springs Domain Board was hold in accordance with the re cent Order-iu-Council at the court-house on Saturday, at 3 p.m. Present: Messrs Gavin, Wilson, Lipsey and Ahier. Mr Wilson was voted to the chair (pro tein). An apology for non-attendance was read from Mr J. Ilott, A telegram from the Government was also read, announcing Mr Ilott's appointment as a member of the Board, vice Mr E. Quinn. On the motion of Mr Ahier, seconded by Mr Lipsey, it was resolved that Mr Gavin be elected chairman for tho ensuing year. Mr Gavin expressed his thanks to the members on being elected for the third time to the chair, and stated that it would be his endeavour to fill the position with credit to himself and satisfaction to the BoarJ. It was decided to hold the regular meetings of tho Board at the office in the domain on the first Saturday of each month at 7.30 p.m. At this stage of the proceedings Mr Wilson asked for permission to retire, which was granted. A discussion then took place relative to tho dissolution of the of tho old Boad and the exclusion of Mr E. Quinn from the one newly elected, and the following telegrams bearing upon the subject were read :—To the Under-Secretary Lands Department, Wellington. Tlie Te Aroha Hot Springs Domain Board regret exceedingly that the valuable services of Mr E. Qninn have been dispensed with. The Board would beg most respectfully to, enquiro the cause, or if any reason exists why Mr Quinn has been dismissed. Signed T. Gavin, chairman. To T. Gavin Esq., Chairman Domain Board : It was represented that Mr Quinn had left the district. That is the only reason why he was left off the Domain Board. H. J. H Elliott. The chairman was requested to communicate with the Department again, and to ask for further information. This terminated the business.
