Sir Hknry Paukiw has agieed to abandon bis opposition to the proposal for parcels by post, but be refuses to exempt the mail steamers from light dues. The contract will uow be signed forthwith. Mr William O'Brien, Judge of the Queen's Bench division, has been appointed Attorney General, and Mr Dodgson H. Madden, Q.C., of Ireland, succeeds Mr Gibson as Solicitor-General. It is announced that the conclusion arrived at between England and France respecting the New Hebrides convention, pledges that France will allow British subjects cyin 1 . {""irr.prcial privileges. France at the same lime guarantees that no convicts will be sent to the Leeward Islands. The Times commends the. enterprise of Mr Morgan in his prospecting for mineral discoveries in Wales ; but warns the public that before investing in these alleged valuable Welsh mines they should await the report of tho gentlemen who are making inquiries regarding them.
