Waikato v- Waipa

The match between the above counties was played at Cambridge on Saturday. Play was not commenced until after 12 o’clock, in consequence of the visiting members of both teams requiring lunch, which was kindly provided by Mr W. S. Stewart, tbe secretary of the Cambridge club. The captains were: Waikato, Mr X. Hunt, and Waipa, Mr Crookes. Waikato won the toss, and went in, but for some time could not do anything with the bowling of Crookes and McFarlane, who were both dead on the wicket, the first four overs being maidens. Wilson made a very care-fully-played 23, and A. B. Stubbing carried his bat for 12. The Tanpiri representatives both added a fair share, the rest being nowhere, and the innings closed for hr,. Tbe Waipa then went to the wickets, and made 103 before being disposed of, Case scoring more than half of them. He kept the Waikato leather bunting in a lively style until A. B. Stubbing was put on, when he was bowled first ball. Waikato again went in, and made 48, of which Hunt contributed 20. This left the Waipa only one run to get to win, which they did without losing a wicket, thus winning the match with ton wickets to fall. Below we append the scores and bowling analysis WAIKATO.
