Town - Boahii. —A special meeting of the Town Board was held yestery evening. Present: Messrs Dobson (chairman,) Frazer, Hotchin, Ilott, and Gavin.—Tenders were received as follows for improvements in Church and Whitaker-streets, near the Wesleyan Church. P. Dillon, £l2 Ills ; .1 .Shine, £‘34 Os ; Win. Wetherington, £2l ; J. Heathcote, £22 4s; F. McDevitt, £2l 10s ; (accepted.) After a prolonged discussion with regard to rating, it was resolved on the motion of Mr Gavin, seconded by Mr Hotchin, “ That the Board adopt the Rating Act ISSfi.—Messrs H. Crump and J. Lavery were unanimously appointed valuers in terms of section 4 of the said Act. Mr Ilott gave notice that at the next ordinary meeting of the Board he would move, Ist “ That section lof by-law M r o 1 of the Board, relating to the day and hour of meeting be rescinded,” 2nd “That any existing resolution regarding the days 'and hour during which the office of the Board’’ shall be open to the public be rescinded. Sonic improvements to the crossing from the Bank of Mew Zealand to Mr Edwards’ corner were authorised, and the meeting closed. Phosi’kctixo Association.—Fair progress is being made in forming the Prospecting Association, inaugurated at the public meeting, held about a fortnight ago. A second meeting was held on Monday evening to receive the report of the provisional committee and to decide npi u further action. Messrs Pavitt, Frazer, Brigham and Bleuco.we were appointed members of the permanent committee, and the two first named were deputed to canvas the district to procure the names of persons desirous of becoming shareholders. Between three and four thousand of the ten thousand shares to be now offered have already been subscribed for, and it is believed the remainder will be readily taken up. _ Salk of the Mew Fim—As was anticipated heie, the Mew Find Mining property has fallen into the hands of Messrs Firth and Clarke at the price offered by them, viz., £2OOO. It is considered that the purchasers have made a good bargain.
